What is Consciousness in Modern Way of Understanding

human consciousness
Consciousness is a terminology that  may refer to mans' complexity and mystery of life. But then its detail has not been clearly discussed to come up into single, clear, conceivable and solid meaning. Figuring out consciousness is a challenging approach towards the quest of getting through into the study and understanding  about humanity.

According to Wikipedia, consciousness is the quality of recognizing outer phenomena of life as well as those within your own self. From medical opinion, consciousness primarily signifies the level of perception becoming alive. Assuming that a person is unconscious, he or she can never figure out the occurrences in his or her environment, just like an ordinary dead object. From psychological viewpoint, consciousness points to something connected with the way human mind works that changes individual reality and circumstances.

As emphasized by several sources linked with science and metaphysics, consciousness has something to do with the energy that influences the whole structure of human physiology from its cellular composition as minute part of the human body, that is also linked to human thoughts and emotions. On faith based viewpoint together with spirituality, consciousness has something to deal with our spirit that provides life to our physical body, the foremost substance of our being.

According to Dr. Deepak Chopra, prominent Indian writer, consciousness is the speculator of the world as subject to human perception. It means to say, consciousness itself is the humanity who responds and reacts with this material world, being alive and receptive to everything within this universe.

The book of Neville Goddard “The Power of Awareness” professed the best gripping idea which could be the building block of mans comprehension regarding consciousness. It tells people that “consciousness is the one and only reality.” This signifies that whatever we believed, recognized or considered to be valid in relation to our very selves, is going to be the dominant factor of what we will undergo in life. “Man is actually the arbiter of his own fate, and that it is his concept of himself that determines the world in which he lives” – Neville.

For the purpose of clarifying what Neville wants to convey to humanity, let me put it this way; consciousness is the union of our body and spirit that makes us alive. It determines who we are as we know ourselves with regards to our world. Consciousness is absolute in every creation, which is based upon every man’s recognition and acceptance of himself.  It is the next to the word “I am”  to define your self according to your own consciousness, and "I am" is the definition of the absolute. consciousness with varying degrees.

When you speak the word “ I am” it could be anything according to your own knowing of who you are. If you are poor, you would say “I am poor,” if you are rich, you would say “ I am rich.”  It does not limit on the level of awareness being rich or poor.  It refers to the whole essence of being a human, recognizing and accepting himself as rich or poor.

In other words, consciousness is our own self concept about who we are, in relation to our spiritual and material world. It controls all our thoughts, emotions and actions. It determines all the things that we are capable of and the things that we can’t do.  We cannot define things beyond our own consciousness for it is not part of us, therefore as human being, our whole life is created and affected by our own consciousness of who we are, and that creates our reality.
